Sarah Michelle Gellar has reacted emotionally to the death of her former co-star Anthony Head IS (1994–2009). With his death, the actress loses another colleague from the beloved cult series. In a moving tribute on social media, Gellar said she is “not okay” and referenced some of the most memorable moments between Buffy and Giles, the character Head played for years.

Anthony Head became known worldwide as Rupert Giles, the wise mentor and father figure of Buffy Summers Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The British actor died on Friday at the age of 72. An official cause of death has not yet been announced. With his death, Sarah Michelle Gellar loses another colleague from the iconic series. Last year, Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy’s sister Dawn, died at the age of 39. Earlier this year, Nicholas Brendon, known to fans as Xander Harris, also died.

In the above post, Gellar references the fifth season finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. “Tell Giles I’ve figured it out and I’m fine,” she quoted from the series. The actress then made it clear how hard the loss is for her. “Well, I don’t have it straight, I’m not doing well. I do know that I was lucky because I knew you,” she wrote. Gellar also thanked Head’s daughters Daisy and Emily. According to the actress, the family shared their father not only with her, but with the whole world. She included several behind-the-scenes photos with her post Buffy the Vampire Slayerwhich shows the close bond between the two actors.
