The shark movie Meg 2: The Trench (2023) continues to attract viewers on Netflix. The action film came in fifth place in the worldwide top 10 this week and managed to attract more than 3.5 million viewers in one week.
Statham without a stunt double
Meg 2: The Trench is the sequel to The Me (2018) in which Jason Statham returns as rescue diver Jonas Taylor. Together with a research team, he descends to the deepest parts of the ocean, where the mission goes completely out of control. Not only do the researchers have to deal with several gigantic megalodons, but a dangerous mining operation also puts the lives of the team at risk. What follows is a spectacular battle for survival.
In addition to Statham, the cast includes Wu Jing, Shuya Sophia Cai, Cliff Curtis and Skyler Samuels. It is directed by Ben Wheatley. It is striking that Statham again performed many of his own stunts. For example, he took care of the entire jet ski chase himself, without using a stunt double.
