Iran denies any negotiations with the United States
Iranian diplomacy affirmed on Monday July 27 that it was not currently conducting any negotiations with the United States, despite the recent cessation of fighting between the two countries.
“At present, we are not engaged in any negotiations with the United States,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaïl Baqhaï said during his weekly press briefing, denying reports that Iran had requested the opening of discussions.
The United States is not involved in recent discussions with Oman on the administration of the Strait of Hormuz, at the heart of tensions, added the same source, specifying that the sea route “remains closed”.
Iran says it summoned French ambassador for “interference”
The French ambassador to Iran, Pierre Cochard, was summoned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran for “interference”, the latter indicated, after the detention of two French diplomats stationed in the Iranian capital last week.
“Yesterday (Sunday), the French ambassador in Tehran was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where it was emphasized that the French government must stop such actions and interference in Iran’s internal affairs under misleading names,” ministry spokesperson Esmaïl Baqhaï said at a weekly press briefing, adding that the two French diplomats had carried out activities “which were in no way justified.”
Israeli army says it intercepted two drones near Jordan
The Israeli army said it had intercepted two drones near the border with Jordan and was investigating where they were launched.
“The drones did not enter Israeli territory. The origin of their launch is under investigation,” she said in a statement.
Earlier this month, the Israeli and Jordanian armies intercepted an Iranian missile fired towards the Jordanian city of Aqaba.
