From today you can watch it in all major cinemas Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), the latest Marvel film in the ever-expanding MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and the fourth part in the series with Tom Holland as Spidey. The latter is now opening a surprising book about an earlier version of the film, which according to the actor did not work at all.
Greatest danger
A few years after the events in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Peter Parker lives all alone in New York, determined to fight crimes without having to constantly answer to his loved ones. This new responsibility also brings with it the necessary pressure. And that only increases as Spider-Man comes face to face with one of the greatest dangers he has ever faced.
Everything changed
In conversation with Quotable Holland reveals that during the production process of Brand New Day was shown several cuts of the film, including a version that he immediately rejected:
They gathered up all kinds of comments from other people who had seen an early version of the film, and based on that they changed everything

‘fan version’
The actor explains that the alternative cut came close to a ‘fan version’ of the fourth part, but that vision did not fit the way the makers looked at the story. It was previously revealed that screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Somers invited Holland to look over their shoulders during the writing process. Destin Daniel Cretton directed and directed his second Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021). Holland’s partner Zendaya, Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner aka the Hulk) also appear in the film.
