American singer D4vd, accused of killing then dismembering a 14-year-old girl who threatened to ruin his musical career by revealing their sexual relations, was sent to trial on Monday by a Los Angeles judge.

At the end of a five-day hearing, magistrate Charlaine Olmedo decided that there was enough incriminating evidence against the artist to justify a trial.
The 21-year-old singer is suspected of having stabbed to death Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a young American woman with whom he allegedly had sexual relations from the age of 13, when he was 18.

Jealous of another woman, the teenager threatened to ruin the singer’s career about 24 hours before his death, and three days before the release of his first album, according to messages presented Monday by the prosecution.
“I’m going to strangle you to death man (…), I’m going to destroy your career and your life, I’m going to destroy everything,” she wrote in a text message.
D4vd would have paid for an Uber the next day to bring her to his house and get rid of her, at the end of April 2025, according to the prosecution.
He then allegedly tried to cover his tracks, ordering chainsaws on Amazon and an inflatable swimming pool to dismember her, as well as a garden incinerator apparently too small to contain the body.
Celeste’s rotting corpse was finally found four months later, in September 2025, in the trunk of a Tesla registered in the singer’s name, towed to a Hollywood impound lot.
Prosecuted for murder, sexual assault on a minor and mutilation of a corpse, D4vd pleads not guilty. He risks life imprisonment or even the death penalty.
The case aroused much interest in the United States, particularly because the artist’s work seemed to echo the murder in a prescient way.
The singer, who notably performed at the Coachella festival, became famous in 2022 when his song “Romantic Homicide” experienced dazzling success on TikTok.
The hearing in recent days showed that Celeste’s family was aware of the relationship she had with the singer. His parents notably signed a notarial deed to authorize her to travel with him to London in September 2024.
Celeste was pregnant by the singer and had an abortion, according to text messages played at the hearing. She maintained contact with D4vd, even after their separation in November 2024.
