The DC universe will be further expanded this fall with Clayface (2026), the story of the awkward-looking villain who first appeared in comics way back in the 1940s. “Meet the new face of Gotham,” shares Warner Bros. at the newly released trailer.
No miracle cure
In the horror story we see how a Hollywood star misjudges a promised miracle cure that could make him a superstar. Suddenly, second-rate actor Matt Hagen no longer has the appearance of an aspiring model, but turns into a clay form. As ‘Clayface’ he begins to roam Batman’s domain, leaving us to wonder whether the unfortunate creature is an ally or a monster in the making.
Welsh protagonist
The role of Clayface is played by Tom Rhys Harries (The Gentlemen), who is supported by a supporting cast including Naomi Ackie (Mickey 17), Max Minghella and Eddie Marsan. James Watkins (Speak No Evil (2024) climbed into the director’s chair.
Matt Hagen is a second-rate actor who is nevertheless gaining fame and popularity. He even manages to grace the cover of a magazine.
The release of Clayface is a nice prelude to the recently postponed event The Batman Part II (2028), which will see Robert Pattinson return as Gotham’s most famous anti-hero. From October 22 is to visit the DC movie.
