Remco Evenepoel won the 16th stage of the Tour de France on Tuesday July 21, a 26.1 kilometer time trial between Evian and Thonon-les-Bains, achieving the best time ahead of Tadej Pogacar and Mattias Skjelmose.

An indisputable master of the discipline, the Belgian completed the course 28 seconds ahead of the Slovenian and 1:04 over the Dane. Paul Seixas finished fourth at 1:16, five seconds ahead of Isaac Del Toro, while Florian Lipowitz, who was fifth overall on the morning of the stage, retired after a fall.

This Wednesday, the runners will set off from Chambéry (Savoie) for a 174.7 km stage which will take them to Voiron (Isère). “The sprinters of the third week of the Tour are by definition tenacious and should not let themselves be intimidated by the climbs, all in all modest, with which they will have to deal in the Bauges massif then in the Chartreuse before explaining themselves in Voiron, during this seventeenth stage”, according to Christian Prudhomme, the director of the Tour de France.
