It will happen to you: as a young child you not only see your mother walking around at home, but also someone who looks disturbingly similar to your mother. It happens to the main character of Other Mommy (2026), a brand new horror film from the studio’s stable that also Backrooms (2026) in Obsession (2025) produced.
Like two drops of water
In the trailer we see how the girl Bela is warmly welcomed by her mother (Oscar winner Jessica Chastain), but the story soon takes a dark turn. A creature that looks just like her mother scares Bela, and it doesn’t seem like her father can protect her from harm…
Horror again
Met Other Mommy we see Chastain return to the genre she embraced with the two ‘It’ films, before winning an Oscar in 2022 for her role in The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Arabella Olivia Clark, the young actress who plays Bela, was already in The Housemaid (2025) (as young Nina) and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (2025). Director Rob Savage previously made Host (2020) in The Boogeyman (2023). He receives production support from established name James Wan (The Conjuring).
Bela, an 8-year-old girl living in a family with marital problems, finds herself confronted by a sinister entity that emerges from her closet.
Release
The release of Other Mommy is well planned: the film appears on 29 October (just before Halloween) in Dutch theaters.
