What does Charles Maurras really think? He is first and foremost a political theorist. Strongly influenced by the positivism of Auguste Comte, he believes that politics is a positive science: its objective criteria can be deduced from the observation of reality, as we do to deduce the laws of nature. It has no transcendent foundation and is not confused with morality. Which does not mean that religious forces do not have a role to play in society. But they are at the service of politics.
