Wild animals are paying a heavy price, at the start of summer 2026, to forest fires from which they rarely survive. For several weeks, fires have ravaged entire ecosystems and tens of thousands of hectares, trapping numerous animals. Within the Fontainebleau massif, considered a little gem teeming with thousands of rare species (nearly 6,600), 2,000 hectares went up in smoke in a few days following a fire declared on July 12.
