The incident involving a utility vehicle on the sidelines of the pride parade on Saturday evening in Berlin left one dead and around fifteen injured, “some of them seriously”, said police spokesperson Florian Nath.
The vehicle was abandoned on site, in Tiergarten Park, a wooded area of the capital where the parade ends, and from where the occupant(s) are being sought, according to the police.

Earlier, police said they presumed “a vehicle entered Tiergarten Park, hit several people and injured them.”
The end of the pride festivities, combining concerts and funfair stalls, was canceled, with organizers asking participants to “go home”.

On site, an AFP journalist observed the area being evacuated. Via loudspeakers, the authorities asked the revelers to leave to the north.
Some of them disguised, the participants walked away from the wooded area calmly, sometimes laughing.
At least ten rescue trucks were visible and a tent was set up in the middle of the road.

Police officers were patrolling the middle of the immense park, AFP also noted.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of thousands of people took part in the pride march, called Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Germany. It is one of the largest parades of its kind in Europe.
The end of the parade was on Rue du 17-June, a long artery which crosses the Tiergarten to the Brandenburg Gate where concerts have been held since Friday.
