A family vacationing in California was confused while checking into their Airbnb in early July, noticing they appeared in a decorative canvas hanging on the hallway wall.
“The weirdest thing happened. We arrive at our Airbnb in San Diego. A random Airbnb, with no connection to us. We’re walking, and my dad looks at one of the paintings and says, ‘That looks like me!'” Aubrey Birrell recounted in a video that went viral shared on TikTok on July 2 and reported by several English-speaking media.
Initially, the young woman and her sister Libby did not believe their father, before noticing the presence of their brother and Libby herself in the image.

“This is my dad and my sister, ten years ago, and this is Brady, my brother, ten years ago too. They are literally in the Airbnb photo. It’s completely crazy! » she continued, incredulous.
“It’s very disturbing. We’re in a completely random Airbnb and we’re literally on the frame in the hallway,” her sister added, both amused and unsettled, recognizing the swimsuit she was wearing at the time.
Under the video posted on TikTok, which had reached more than 866,300 views, Internet users were quick to react, oscillating between fascination and slight fear.
“This is literally the start of a horror movie,” one early user commented.

“This is absolute proof that we are living in a simulation,” added a second.
Others took the opportunity to tell their own stories of inexplicable coincidences. One person described buying a newspaper to protect herself from a storm at the beach, only to discover a photo of her and her mother on the front page, taken three years earlier during a festival.
Another user responded with an “equally incredible” story.
“My uncle received a postcard from Mackinac Island [au Michigan] and, by pure chance, my grandfather was in the photo eating ice cream. It’s been years since he died,” we can read.
