Horror fans can once again prepare for sleepless nights. Paramount brings the world of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) returns to the big screen with a new film under the Paramount Primal label. Story details remain under wraps for now, but the project is based on horror legend Wes Craven’s first film from 1984.
Murderous dreams
Of Nightmare on Elm Streetfilms revolve around Freddy Krueger, a child murderer who was burned alive by the children’s parents, but years later returns through dreams in his now iconic outfit of fedora, red and green sweater, burned face and razor glove, to kill teenagers.

New genre label
The new one Nightmare on Elm Street is produced by Paramount Primal, Paramount’s new genre label, led by JD Lifshitz and Raphael Margules, the producers of films such as Weapons (2025),Barbarian (2022) in Companion (2025).
We look forward to bringing the world of Wes Craven’s ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ to a new and fully engaged generation of fans. We know Wes would have been thrilled to see horror finally get the place in the cultural canon it deserves. Krueger has appeared in several films, a TV series and video games. His last action scene was in the reboot of A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010).
