
She discovered this haven of greenery and calm water while cycling with her children, shortly after arriving in Nantes at the end of 2019. “Six months before confinement, I crossed the city up and down to soak it up,” says Michaela Sanson-Braun, a 51-year-old painter with bright blue eyes. After living for twenty years in London, “a large, anonymous city where men dressed in nylon suits speed past you”, she rediscovered the pleasure of seeing residents pedaling like her, their noses to the wind, “like in a Woody Allen film…”.
