
The fire has been smoldering in recent months under the harbor of the Old Port of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), at the foot of Fort Saint-Jean. After months of internal tensions, Pierre-Olivier Costa was suspended from his duties as president of the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations (Mucem), announced the Ministry of Culture in a press release on Tuesday June 30, confirming information from Le Monde. The suspension – as a precautionary measure – “aims to re-establish a climate of confidence and to renew social dialogue within the institution”, specifies the press release.
