A Swedish court on Wednesday ordered Google to pay more than $2 billion to the price comparison site Pricerunner, owned by the Swedish financial services group Klarna, after the American giant illegally promoted its own price search service.
The Stockholm Patent and Competition Court ruled that “Pricerunner is considered to have suffered harm because Google has, for many years, illegally promoted its own price comparison service.”
Pricerunner, which filed its lawsuit in 2022, had sought “significantly higher damages, but was not entirely successful,” according to the court statement.
