Paramount Pictures and Activision have provided an update on the highly anticipated film Call of Duty (2028). The film will be set in the Modern Warfare universe, one of the most popular and recognizable branches of the gaming franchise.
Unveiling during game fair
Since the film was announced in September 2025, little was known about its content until now. Director and co-screenwriter Peter Berg announced the news during a panel at Fanatics Fest in New York. Berg co-writes with Taylor Sheridan, creator of Yellowstone (2018–2024), the screenplay.

The Modern Warfare games follow Captain John Price and his Task Force 141 team, with terrorist leader Vladimir Makarov as the recurring antagonist. As the name suggests, the games are set in a modern, military world.
Release date
The as yet unnamed one Call of Dutyfilm must be finished 30 June 2028 appear in cinemas. This will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the very first one Call of Dutygame from 2003.
