The deputies approved Tuesday, June 23, by 271 votes to 202, a constitutional reform aimed at granting “autonomy within the Republic” to Corsica, a perspective which divides within the political class, and which will then have to pass the test of the Senate.
The government text provides in particular to grant Corsica regulatory and legislative powers to respond to certain problems in the name of the specificities of the island, under conditions which will have to be framed by a second law, if the constitutional reform is validated by 3/5th of the parliamentarians meeting in Congress in Versailles.
