Viewers of House of Guinness (2025– ) can look forward to more family drama. Netflix has decided to renew the series for a second season. The series, which tells the story of the famous Guinness family in 19th century Ireland, attracted many viewers immediately after launch and received largely positive reviews.
More drama
The positive reactions and high viewing figures have given Netflix enough confidence House of Guinness for a second season. The first season takes place after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the influential businessman behind the world-famous beer empire. His children become embroiled in a battle for the future of the family business, while political tensions and personal conflicts further exacerbate the situation.
Still a lot of seasons to go if it’s up to Knight
After its release, the series was regularly compared to successful productions such as Succession (2018–2023) in Peaky Blinders (2013–2022). The combination of historical events and a lot of drama was particularly popular with viewers. At the same time, there was discussion in Ireland about the historical accuracy of the series. Critics felt that certain events and political developments from that period were not always accurately depicted. The makers emphasized that it is a fictional story that is only loosely based on historical facts. Creator Stephen Knight has said there are plans to expand the story over multiple seasons and ultimately tell decades of Guinness history.
