Widow’s Bay (2026– ) premiered on streaming a few weeks ago and isn’t even quite over yet. Yet Apple TV is already extending the horror series with Matthew Rhys for a second season. The streaming service announced this in a press release.
Second season
The season finale of Widow’s Bay can only be seen on Apple TV on June 17, but the streaming service has already announced that we can also expect a second season of the horror hit. In a press release, Apple TV shares the happy news: “Mayor Tom Loftis declares that Widow’s Bay remains completely safe and open to visitors!”
Hoge scores
Extending Widow’s Bay doesn’t come completely out of the blue. The series was well viewed on Apple TV, but above all it received many positive reactions. Viewers and critics alike raved about the Apple TV Original. Scores on Rotten Tomatoes Widow’s Bay a 93% on the Popcornmeter and an impressive 97% on the Tomatometer.

Cast
The cast of Widow’s Bay is led by Matthew Rhys (known from The Beast in Me (2025) on Netflix) and he is joined by Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick and Kevin Carroll. The horror comedy is the work of Katie Dippold, who also co-wrote the hit series Parks and Recreation (2009–2015).
Where goes Widow’s Bay over?
On the remote island of Widow’s Bay, mild-mannered mayor Tom Loftis desperately tries to save the shrinking community. Without WiFi or mobile coverage, he not only battles isolation, but also superstitious islanders who believe there is a curse on the town. Although the residents see him as a coward, Loftis is determined to turn the island into a tourist attraction and create a better future for his teenage son.
