6:36 a.m. – Israeli military says it intercepted “suspicious aerial target coming from Yemen”
The Israeli army announced early Tuesday that it had intercepted a new “suspicious aerial target coming from Yemen”, less than 24 hours after the Houthi rebels installed in this country and allies of Iran claimed an attack against Israel and decreed a ban on Israeli navigation in the Red Sea, another strategic maritime route.
“A suspicious air target originating from Yemen has been intercepted. The incident is closed. No injuries were reported,” the army said, adding that the interception took place in the Eilat region.
6:30 a.m. – Resumption of flights at Tehran Imam Khomeini Airport
Flights at Imam Khomeini Airport in Tehran have resumed after being suspended overnight from Sunday to Monday due to Israeli bombing, according to local agencies Mehr and Fars. “With the return to normal operating conditions of the national air sector, all operational services” have resumed, indicated an airport spokesperson, Javad Salehi Artimani, quoted by these media.
The night’s news
– Hostilities between Iran and Israel were interrupted on Monday, after reciprocal strikes for the first time since the truce concluded two months ago, each side nevertheless threatening the other with reprisals in the event of a new attack. After 100 days of war and the entry into force on April 8 of a fragile ceasefire, explosions and alerts sounded again in Tehran and Tel Aviv on Sunday and Monday. The attacks left 15 injured in Iran, according to the head of the national emergency organization.
– Talks with the United States via the Pakistani mediator are continuing, assured Iranian diplomacy as well as Donald Trump, who regretted that the process was slowed down by “ignorance or stupidity”.
– On Monday evening, an Israeli strike on Tyre, a city in southern Lebanon, left five dead and eight injured, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said. Israel had earlier indicated that its army would continue to target pro-Iranian Hezbollah despite threats of further retaliation from Tehran.
– The command of the Iranian armed forces announced on Monday “the cessation of the operation”, described as a “severe response” to Israel. But, he warned, “in the event of continued aggression and hostilities, including in southern Lebanon, much more severe and repressive actions than before will be taken.”
