A question often comes up today: what does the Bible tell us about our relationship with nature, with living things? What awareness does it commit us to, in the ecological crisis we are experiencing? In the first chapter of Genesis, the exhortation to be fruitful and to multiply is not reserved for humanity but for all of Creation (Genesis, 1.22). From an ethical and spiritual point of view, it is therefore appropriate to respect the growth of Creation as a whole, and not just that of humanity.
