And the same day, Mr. Zelensky claimed on social networks to have obtained “very solid results with long-range strikes in the Caspian Sea, targeting in particular ships used to transport military cargo involving Iran, as well as a warship”.
“The attack carried out by the Ukrainian regime against an Iranian merchant ship in the Caspian Sea, explicitly claimed by the leader of this regime, testifies to the persistence of the irrational and hostile attitude of the Ukrainian regime,” protested the ministry in a press release.
The Islamic Republic “never intervened in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” he said.
The Ukrainian intelligence services (SBU) for their part reported on Telegram drone attacks against “cargo ships under international sanctions which were used to transport military cargo between Iran and Russia”.
According to Iranian state television, the Ukrainian charge d’affaires in Tehran was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday to be lectured by a senior official for this “hostile and criminal act.”
Abbas Araghchi also indicated that he had spoken with the head of diplomacy of the European Union Kaja Kallas and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on this subject.
