
Caps on their heads and bags on their backs, Louis, 11, and Lucien, 8, enjoy being reunited with their father on a platform at Montparnasse station. The two children boarded Bordeaux Saint-Jean a few hours earlier. With their aunt and cousins, they spent part of their vacation in Gironde, in Saint-Aubin-en-Médoc, a small town located about twenty kilometers from Bordeaux. But like other neighboring municipalities, Friday July 24 in the evening, Saint-Aubin was the subject of an “immediate evacuation of populations located in the sectors now threatened” by the forest fires which are approaching the Bordeaux borders, according to announcements from the department prefecture.
