Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will travel to Washington on Monday at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, whom he will meet on Tuesday at the White House, his office announced on Friday.

During this visit, in the midst of the resumption of hostilities between the United States and Iran, he will also attend the funeral of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a “friend of Israel” according to the press release from Mr. Netanyahu’s office.
This influential figure in US-Israeli relations died on July 11.
Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump have met numerous times since the latter’s return to power in January 2025, but Friday’s announcement puts an end to several days of uncertainty.
Israeli and American media had reported that Mr. Netanyahu had been seeking for several weeks to obtain a new interview with Donald Trump, without a date being set, fueling speculation about friction between the two leaders.
Mr. Netanyahu’s trip will come a few days after the visit to the White House by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, received by Donald Trump as part of American efforts to consolidate the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah and obtain a gradual disarmament of the Shiite movement.
Discussions with Mr. Aoun focused in particular on the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, demanded by Beirut to move forward in the implementation of the agreement with Israel concluded in June and sponsored by Washington with a view to ending the state of war between the two countries.
The Lebanese question must also be discussed with the Israeli Prime Minister, as will the conflict with Iran, triggered by a joint Israeli-American offensive on February 28 against Tehran.
This visit comes nine months after Mr. Trump’s trip to Jerusalem in October 2025, during which he met with Mr. Netanyahu as part of the negotiations leading to a ceasefire in Gaza.
