A Japanese company has created a device similar to a refrigerator for humans to combat the heat wave affecting the country this summer.
The “Doe Hiemon box” device from the Trusco Nakayama company measures 2.1 meters high, is made of stainless steel and is described as a means of cooling that would compete with air conditioning and fans, according to reports The Guardian.
A video obtained by CNN shows the device in action, as a person can sit inside to enjoy cooler air.
The interior is kept at around 15 degrees Celsius with a constant breeze of 5 degrees Celsius at the head and neck of the person sitting inside.
Its manufacturer promises that users can be refreshed in around ten minutes.
The device is sold for the equivalent of approximately $12,000 Canadian.
Japan is experiencing a major heat wave with temperatures sometimes reaching 40 degrees Celsius in the center of the country.
