The Belgian Jasper Philipsen won the 17th stage of the Tour de France on Wednesday July 22 in Voiron by sprinting over a group of around thirty riders bringing together the main attackers of the day.
Perfectly led by Mathieu Van der Poel, the sprinter from Alpecin beat the Swiss Mauro Schmid and the Dutchman Olav Kooij, to win his 11th victory on the Grande Boucle.

Thursday’s stage
On Thursday, the runners will set off from Voiron for a new mountain stage. “The places on the final podium are not necessarily distributed at this stage of the race. On the other hand, the climbers clearly behind in the general classification are clearly identified, some of whom are still in great shape. It’s time for them to seek the victory that has been denied so far, or why not to do it again. An explanation between eagles is therefore to be expected when going up to Orcières-Merlette,” predicts Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France.
