A 28-year-old leader suspected of having sexually assaulted three young girls aged 11 and 12 during a scout camp in Doubs was indicted on Wednesday, the Besançon prosecutor said on Thursday. The facilitator joined the Éclaireuses and secular scouts of Franche-Comté in January.
He was placed under judicial supervision with a ban on contact with minors and an obligation to provide care, said Besançon prosecutor Cédric Logelin.
This trained agricultural worker, who “generally admitted the facts”, is notably suspected of having caressed the victims’ private parts over their clothes, the magistrate said. The host was immediately excluded from the association, said its co-president Kevin Acosta.
Facts quickly denounced
The facts were revealed by a young girl who confided in her parents last Thursday, upon returning from a five-day scout camp in Doubs. “The rapid denunciation of the child allowed effective mobilization of the justice system and the gendarmerie services,” noted the prosecutor. A judicial investigation has been opened to identify possible other victims.
All parents have been notified. “It is important to maintain links with families,” he added, emphasizing the “shock” experienced by the entire team whose “supervisors are regularly trained in issues of sexist and sexual violence.”
