The head of Iranian diplomacy, Abbas Araghchi, joked Monday evening about American President Donald Trump’s proposal to introduce a 20% tax on goods transported by boat in the Strait of Hormuz.
The American president “is absolutely right. Anyone who ensures the safe and secure passage of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz should be paid for this service,” the Iranian foreign minister wrote on X.
“Iran has always been the guardian of the Strait and will remain so forever. 20% is obviously too much. We will be fair. »
