Oil prices soared on Monday, propelled by the return of the United States naval blockade on Iranian ports and Washington’s desire to introduce a toll for ships wishing to cross the Strait of Hormuz.
Around 2:20 p.m., the price of a barrel of Brent from the North Sea, an international benchmark, rose 9.06% to $82.90. That of its American equivalent, a barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI), rose 9.05% to $77.87.
