For almost a month already, the average temperature of the Loire has exceeded 25°C near Nantes, with peaks of up to 32°C, exceeding the records recorded in 2019 and 2025. “The temperature of the air has a strong impact on that of the water,” explains Hélène Fallou, manager of the measurement network of the Loire Estuaire Public Interest Group, which monitors the temperature of the river in real time thanks to a series of terminals installed upstream to downstream of the river, in Loire-Atlantique. Only the sensor located in Montoir-de-Bretagne, near Saint-Nazaire, where the Loire mixes with the colder waters of the ocean, displays lower temperatures (between 22 and 24°C in recent days).
