Jerusalem would have transmitted to Washington information from its secret services concerning an Iranian plan to assassinate the American president, according to the Wall Street Journal et CNN.
However, since the signing of the framework agreement between Iran and the United States, the government and people of Israel have made their dissatisfaction known, since the agreement does not provide for anything concrete to limit Tehran’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities.
“There was a desire from the start to perhaps restart hostilities. It is certain that if we leak information that the Iranians have a credible plan to attempt the life of a man of whom we know how proud he is, that could perhaps weigh on his decision to restart hostilities for good or not,” explained the doctoral student in political science at Sciences Po Paris, Georges Mercier, in an interview with LCN on Friday.

It was also the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who allegedly convinced Donald Trump to launch strikes in Iran last February. It would therefore be in his interest to fuel this conflict.
“That doesn’t mean that it’s false news. There is probably an Iranian plot to the extent that there is a fairly significant proportion of the population in Iran who would be very satisfied if the American president could disappear,” specifies Georges Mercier.
The latter adds that Israel has every interest in publicizing information about the alleged plot against Trump.
New American attack?
On Thursday, the Israeli army also affirmed that it was ready to attack Iran “a third time” and “even harder” if the need arose.
However, Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu had a discussion on Thursday, a sign that their tense relationship could be softening.
“The weekend could be decisive. We know the tendency of the Americans to launch large-scale operations on weekends. For what ? Because the financial markets are closed and therefore the economic response may be delayed until the beginning of the week,” underlines the political analyst.
