Israel has transmitted to Washington information from its intelligence services according to which Iran is preparing a new plan to assassinate Donald Trump, the Wall Street Journal and CNN, citing anonymous sources.

The two American media are stingy with details. According to a source cited by CNN, the alert reached Americans’ ears this week. According to another source from the channel, the Israelis have confirmed a new Iranian plan already partially detected by American services.
Questioned by AFP, the White House did not deny it, simply referring to statements by Donald Trump dating from Wednesday: “They want to eliminate the American leader – me. I’m on some sort of list, I saw this morning that I’m on all their lists.”
The president then left the NATO summit in Turkey with the old presidential plane, and not the new one offered by Qatar, due to security concerns, according to the New York Times.

These leaks suggesting a new plot come at a time when the relationship between Israel and the United States and their two leaders, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump, is in decline over the war in Iran.
The United States is Israel’s main ally, but the American president has repeatedly engaged in public criticism of Mr. Netanhayou in recent weeks, after Israel’s war against Hezbollah in Lebanon threatened talks with Iran.

American sources cited by CNN believe that this transmission of Israeli information to the Americans could constitute an effort by the Netanyahu government aimed at convincing Donald Trump to continue its bombing against Iran, restarted this week.
The United States assassinated powerful Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in Iraq in 2020, during the Republican’s first term, and Iran publicly threatened retaliation, including against Donald Trump.
Iran has just buried its late supreme leader Ali Khamenei, killed in an American-Israeli strike at the end of February at the very beginning of their war, after several days of funerals marked by the desire for revenge.
