Since Saturday, July 4, fans can watch on Prime Video Elle (2026– ), the prequel series that tells the story of young Elle Woods, the iconic character from Legally Blonde (2001). Even before the first season premiered, the series was given the green light for a second season. The recordings have now been completed.
Season 2 picks up immediately after the finale
According to showrunner Laura Kittrell, the second season will follow directly from the events of the season 1 finale, so viewers won’t have to wait long for answers surrounding the big cliffhangers. “Season 2 picks up right where Season 1 ends,” Kittrell told Deadline. That means the new episodes will continue with Elle’s complicated love triangle, Liz and Kimberly’s relationship and the personal challenges her parents face, among others.

New opponent for Elle
In the second season, Elle gets a striking new opponent. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, known for Never Have I Ever (2020–2023) in The Boys (2019–2026), joins the cast as Sam. Sam is the ambitious editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, which she founded herself. She is a complete contrast to Elle: where Elle mainly relies on her love for popular magazines, Sam attaches great importance to journalistic rules, grammar and the strict AP style guide. Their different views undoubtedly cause tensions.

6.7
Set in the 1990s, the series ‘Elle’ follows Elle Woods in high school, well before she starts law school at Harvard.
Recurring characters
Several familiar faces from the first season return, including Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Matt Ober, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet and Lisa Yamada. Whether Danielle Chad will be seen again remains unclear for the time being. This is related to the developments surrounding her character Shannon in the first season. One character who was closely associated with Shannon will not be returning, and anyone who has seen season 1 knows exactly who it is.
Last role of James Van Der Beek
The first season of Elle also features the final television role of James Van Der Beek, who passed away in February 2026. He played the role of Dean Wilson in the series.
