
In 2024, 7,398 children were born dead or died in their first week of life in France, out of just over 661,000 births, according to a study by the Drees (Directorate of Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics) published Tuesday July 7, 2026. The perinatal mortality rate is 11.2 births per 1,000.
