The death toll from the double earthquake of June 24 in Venezuela has been revised upwards and now stands at 3,535 dead, according to a press release released Monday by the government.
“Official toll on July 6: 3,535 dead, 16,740 injured,” according to the press release. The authorities avoid talking about the missing but the United Nations estimates that it could reach 50,000, with some projections putting the figure closer to 10,000.
The previous toll, dated Sunday, was 3,342 dead.
