Trump considers continued support for NATO “ridiculous”
American President Donald Trump, who has undertaken efforts to mediate the conflict since his return to power, has said he wants a peace agreement between kyiv and Moscow to put an end to the “senseless killings”.
At the same time Donald Trump declared Thursday that it was “ridiculous” that the United States maintained a “unilateral” relationship with NATO, less than a week before the organization’s summit in Ankara, Turkey. “They weren’t there for us!!! », wrote Donald Trump on his Truth Social network, adding that the relationship between his country and NATO was “not reciprocal”. His message included a chart showing the amount of NATO spending, with the United States investing far more than some of the other member countries shown on it.
This statement comes as Volodymyr Zelensky, for his part, urged his allies to deliver more anti-aircraft defense assets to his country. He said he hoped the subject would be discussed at the NATO summit in Türkiye.
