Donald Trump is the subject of new controversy after pocketing US$1.2 billion from cryptocurrencies in 2025. According to a political scientist, this revelation indicates more than ever that he is the most corrupt president in the history of the United States.

These exorbitant revenues come from his activities in cryptocurrencies in 2025, the year of his return to power.
By comparison, Mr. Trump earned around $600 million in 2024.
For Guillaume Lavoie, this is not a coincidence.
“Someone who arrives at the White House and his income is multiplied exponentially, while he and especially his family are massively involved in a kind of confusion between economic interests and the political decisions behind… I’ll put it like this: never, in the long history of two and a half centuries of the United States, has there been a more corrupt character in the White House,” he said.

The impact of the midterm elections
He believes that the current tenant of the White House is “lucky”, but that he may be on “borrowed time”.
“Following the judgments of the Supreme Court and the pardons that he will sign himself when he leaves, I doubt that there could be any legal proceedings against him which could really harm him,” mentioned the specialist in American politics.
It is precisely for this reason that the midterm elections, scheduled for next November, will be so important, according to him.
“You can make a pretty safe bet that if there is ever a new impeachment proceeding, it will be on a corruption case,” he said.

Guillaume Lavoie mentions in particular the receipt of a plane worth $400 million, or the investments made by Trump’s sons for a company which will eventually be hired by Washington.
“We are not dealing with very refined corruption,” he said.
He nevertheless remains surprised by the silence of the American people and his own party.
“But that could change in the mid-term elections,” concluded the political scientist.
