The next presidential election in France will take place on April 18 and May 2, 2027, a source within the executive said on Tuesday June 30, confirming information from the daily Ouest-France. “It will be formalized tomorrow (Wednesday) in the Council of Ministers,” added this source.
This calendar was preferred to the other option, which placed the vote a week earlier, on April 11 and 25, specifies the daily Ouest-France.
Under the Constitution, the vote must be held 20 to 35 days before the end of the current five-year term, Emmanuel Macron having started his second presidency on May 14, 2022.
It will therefore take place during the spring break and for the second round the day after Labor Day.
