Parliament approved on Wednesday July 1 a new version of the military programming law, which now provides that the State devotes 436 billion euros to the Armed Forces budget by 2030. This text is supposed to respond in part to the lessons learned from the conflicts in Ukraine or the Middle East.
After the Senate on Tuesday, the National Assembly largely approved the government’s bill, by 375 votes to 113. Several favorable deputies, however, judged the effort insufficient, or questioned the way in which it would be financed. The trajectory will also be impacted by the presidential election, its winner being able to relaunch his own programming law.
