
On July 1, 2000, 8-year-old Sarah Payne disappeared from her grandfather’s garden in West Sussex. The police went the next day to Roy Whiting’s apartment, located four kilometers away. His alibi will eventually collapse and a hair from the young girl, whose body was found two weeks after her disappearance, will be discovered several months later in her car. He will be sentenced to life in prison.
