Former President of the Central Bank of the United States (Fed) Alan Greenspan died Monday June 22 at the age of 100, American media announced, citing a press release from his wife, NBC News journalist Andrea Mitchell.
Nicknamed the “Oracle” or the “Maestro”, Alan Greenspan had led the institution responsible for monetary policy in the United States for nineteen years, between 1987 and 2006, but he saw his reputation tarnished with the financial crisis of 2008.
