
Sixty departments in total will be placed “on heatwave orange vigilance” from Saturday, Météo France indicated on Friday June 19.
The orange “heatwave” alert will concern “60 departments” compared to 53 on Friday, or nearly two thirds of the departments, adds the meteorological institute. More than half of the population is affected by this new heatwave which is taking hold “long-term in the country” and “should continue at least until the beginning of next week”.

“In addition to these very high temperatures, locally violent storms will affect Hauts-de-France on Friday afternoon and early evening,” adds Météo France.
