After the violence which followed PSG’s victory in the Champions League, the government will present a bill to the Council of Ministers in July “aimed at making the perpetrators directly responsible for the cost of damage committed in public spaces”, announced Sébastien Lecornu on Sunday June 14.

“In a context where our public finances are seriously degraded and where every euro of public money must be used responsibly, it is no longer acceptable for the community to bear the cost of the destruction committed by a few,” says the Prime Minister on X.

“Tomorrow any person taking part in a violent gathering during which damage is committed may be required to make a civil contribution to their repair. A simple principle: when we participate in collective violence, we must individually assume the consequences,” he explains.

“This contribution can be adapted to the financial capacities of each person, including in the form of modest payments spread over time. Social benefits may also be requested under the conditions provided for by law, without calling into question the remaining life of the people concerned,” specifies the head of government, emphasizing the “educational vocation” of such reparation.
