
It was around 10 p.m., Friday June 12, 2026, that 17 Iranian, Afghan, Turkish and Georgian migrants deported from the United States arrived in Bangui, after a twenty-four hour journey. Departing from Louisiana, their plane made a first stopover in Ghana before landing in the capital of the Central African Republic (CAR) in the dark of night, due to a lack of functional public lighting.
