Biblical commentaries
“Jesus Christ, interior light, do not let my darkness speak to me, give me the opportunity to welcome your love.” This famous refrain from the Taizé community could be the summary of our meditation of the day!
The Master continues to use the imperative to deepen his beatitudes, his life project. His recommendations set us in motion if we allow ourselves to be inhabited by the light of his word. Today it is about the heart and the eye but the whole body is concerned. We are in darkness when our eye only looks at what harms. The news gives us countless opportunities to see the world in black. It’s even darker when we only speak in the conditional or when our judgments are there only to damage a relationship without seeking the truth of the person incriminated. Our heart is then ravaged by moths and worms.
Our inner treasure can only be in the light of Christ. It enlightens our heart and promotes good eyesight. In these troubled times, let us learn from Christ to look at others with gratitude. Let us not hesitate to rejoice in all the stars that shine around us and within us. Let’s open our hearts and our eyes to all the nuggets that life offers us. Let’s take the time to give thanks. This is our true treasure. Let Christ clothe our person with his Spirit and choose his light with him.
