
He has become the face of Palestinian caregivers ready to do anything to save victims of the war between the Jewish state and Hamas, and of the Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip. Doctors, nurses, first aiders themselves struck in the flesh. After losing his son in October 2024 in an Israeli attack, Hussam Abu Safiya was injured in the leg a month later during a strike on the Kamal Adwan hospital that he directed in Beit Lahia, the last large establishment still operational in northern Gaza.
