The year 2025 has severely tested our ability to envision the future. When faced with world news, 55% of readers say they often feel angry. However, this figure drops to 35% when they read La Croix specifically. Conversely, the feeling of hope increases from 44% in general to 68% when reading the newspaper, a jump of almost 23 points.

It is not a question of avoiding reality: 80% of readers believe that La Croix helps them to project themselves into “a future where positive things remain possible”, and 77% say that it helps them “not to give in to discouragement in the face of the harshness of current events”, according to the study “Reading La Croix… and after? » carried out with our readers in February and March 2026.

Let’s talk ecology: neither naive nor resigned

Launched on January 1, 2025, the “Let’s Talk Ecology” operation reflects La Croix’s commitment to bringing hope to life in the face of the environmental emergency. After the hottest year on record, the newspaper trained 45 members of its teams in ecological issues, produced more than 500 pieces of content, three special issues and a podcast channel. In one year, the operation attracted 3,600 new readers and generated hundreds of messages of satisfaction. La Croix also received two media responsibility awards.

“The first thing I would like to express is my gratitude. For a media today, making ecology a structuring axis is not obvious” Valérie Masson-Delmotte, paleoclimatologist, member of the High Council for the Climate.

This assessment encouraged us to continue the momentum in 2026. La Croix also participated in several public events: the UNESCO Earth University (10,000 people), the Ecoposs festival in Lille (4,750 people) and the Climate Academy (200 people). These meetings offered readers and experts a space to think together about possible paths, despite the scale of the challenges. “The conferences nourish my thinking on environmental ethics,” says Anne, invited with nine other readers to spend a day at the University of the Earth.

Faced with the violence of the world, its crises and its fractures, La Croix chooses not to give in to discouragement. Week after week, its headlines follow a promise, that of resisting despondency, of always hoping.

With its front pages, La Croix chooses a human and nuanced approach to information.

“Thank you for joining us and shaking us up every week with discoveries of inspiring women and men! », Gilles.

“A huge thank you for these reflections, which are much less despairing than some contemporary thought… and which give back to personal choices. », Armand.
