For those who can’t get enough of the dark world of The Handmaid’s Tale (2017–2025), there was good news a while ago. Of The Testaments (2026– ) we returned to Gilead. The sequel series, which takes place years after the events of the original, is still widely watched on Disney+ after the season finale.

Fans of the acclaimed drama series could simply continue with the spin-off The Testaments on Disney+. This series, which premiered in early April, is still remarkably popular now that the season finale has aired.

The Testaments has been a ratings success on Disney+ since its release. The spin-off, which takes place after the original series, was in the Top 10 of the service for weeks and can still be found in this list. At this moment it stands The Testaments even at number one on the charts. And that with competition from, among others Rivals (2024– ) and Star Wars!

It therefore comes as no surprise that, before the end of this season, Hulu The Testaments extended with a second part. The spin-off owes this to the high viewing figures, but also to all the positive reactions from viewers. Currently scores The Testaments namely an impressive 87% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer.
Chase Infiniti
The creator of the original series, Bruce Miller, is also responsible for the new success of this series. The leading role of The Testaments is played by Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another (2025)) and the cast is completed by Lucy Halliday and Ann Dowd, among others. Unfortunately, it is not yet known when the series will return for a second season.
