The news that the HBO hit series Euphoria (2019– ) ends, coincides precisely with the release of the eighth and final episode. For long-time fans, there will be a lot to talk about after today, and one of the developments that previously caused discussion was of course Cassie’s OnlyFans switch. In conversation with the New York Times creator Sam Levinson tells us more about the considerations he made.
One step further
Ever since season 1 Euphoria criticized by some viewers for the way the series oversexualizes characters, especially the role of Sydney Sweeney. In the third season, the makers go one step further by having Cassie take a step as an OnlyFans model, but according to Levinson, that did not have to be as graphic as it is now.
No chaste version
“It’s funny,” says the director and screenwriter, “when I wrote the first scenes for this I thought, maybe we don’t have any nudity at all, [en] can we film around certain things.” But Sweeney himself did not agree with this, according to Levinson:
She looked at me and said, “Are you kidding me?” I play an OnlyFans model. Should I beat around the bush about that?

The maker recognized that his leading actress had a point and the team continued with the recordings as they were later discussed en masse. Levinson calls Sweeney “completely fearless” and a “great professional”, and emphasizes that the final season was filmed with a lot of mutual trust.
